The Nationals kicked off with a great barbeque at Early Bird on the Friday afternoon to welcome our guests from Queensland, Sydney, Newcastle and Mount Gambier. Early Bird looked great with the XP front hanging up proudly on the outside of their workshop.

As our interstate guests were scattered around Melbourne, Saturday was spent detailing cars and visiting tourist spots. The Saturday night bowling competition at Moorabbin Bowl was well attended with hot competition for the ten pin trophies being quite fierce.

Sunday morning saw our Melbourne crew up with the sun to organise the many tasks, ensuring that the display was going to be a success. From comments on the day and in the following weeks, we can surely say that this was a successful display. Comments such as "I haven't seen this many early Falcons in one spot in years" and "We haven't seen a squire display like this ever".

The blue flags, lights and green carpet made the squires and convertibles appear to be in a showroom. To look around the pavilion and see all those early Falcons was a sight to gladden any enthusiast. The sight of these enthusiasts shaking hands and renewing friendships from previous nationals made our efforts worthwhile. A lot of networking took place on the day, with many new members picking up valuable tips from older/more experienced enthusiasts. This is what these displays are all about - promoting the cars, exchanging ideas and techniques, and relating amusing stories.

The presentation dinner was very well attended, to the point where food got a little scarce! Trophy presentations took place with only handshakes to be given to the winners, as we could not locate the trophies. This was due to the trophies being delivered to an incorrect address, where no one could have found them!!! They were located the following week and have been delivered to the respective winners.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our interstate guests for making the effort to support our nationals. I would also like to thank the nationals sub-committee and all members for their assistance and a special thankyou to Rick McEvoy and Charlotte Barker for their great design work on all the nationals merchandise. Next year's nationals will be held by the Sydney Club.
